Exercise - Focal Lengths and Different viewpoints

I started the exercise Focal lengths and different viewpoints, the first photo was taken with my zoom lens - Nikkor 70-300mm. The second one was with my primary lens a Nikkor 18-55mm. The main difference I noted was the saturation of the photo and also the clarity. The primary lens gave a crisper image.

Exercise - Focal Lengths

Following are two photos for the exercise - Focal Lengths. The smaller images were done with my standard lens while the close up one was done with my zoom lens.

Exercise - Panning with different shutter speeds

Worked on the exercise, panning on a moving object with different shutter speeds. This took a while for me to work on as was not sure what subject matter to use. Rowan did make a good model though and produced some interesting pictures. I particularly like the slower shutter speeds where her pink jeans become a blur, especially in the seventh picture shown.

Exercise - Fitting the Frame to the Subject

Here are the images for the Fitting the frame to the subject exercise. It was a difficult subject to use all the frame as square in shape. I prefer the close up shot as gives a more interesting picture.

Exercise - Object in different positions in the frame

I have managed to do a few more photos today after a rather hectic week. This was on the exercise - Object in different positions in the frame. I used a pool table as this gave a nice large, even background. My favourite one was the one that is in the centre of the picture, then the one with it slightly to the left, then the one with it at the top of the frame and my least favourite one being the one with the ball at the far left corner of the frame. I personally think the first one works well, with the ball in the centre as the punctured frame works well.

Exercise - Shutter Speeds - cameras with a manual option

These are the photos for the shutter speed exercise. It was great fun today as Rowan enjoyed bouncing on the trampoline for me. I much prefer the slower shutter speeds as more interesting pictures can be made. The faster ones just look like family snaps.

I have also finished the Photography book. Was not really impressed but some of the artists were very good and have bookmarked some of the websites to have a look later.

Tried doing pictures of food colouring in water, but the light kept giving really dark backgrounds. Will try in the natural light tomorrow to see if that works.

Also received the bulb to the PAR 38 spotlight which I will use for some different effects.

Reading

Reading the photography book again and found an interesting idea in the vortograph. this was dine using three mirrors clamped together in a triangle into which the Lena of the camera was projected. might be worth trying at some point. must admit glad to be getting to the end of this book as have so manyore to read from
the recommended Reading. I bought a square base at the weekend and will fill it win water and put in some food dye. with a White reflector behind it and a strong light it should look good. got a par 38 spotlight from my dad at the weekend which I have ordered a bulb for. could be interesting using gels on it. looking at uploading the res of the pics using pic resizer which should make it easier. starting to look upwards the assignment and will start working on next weekend.
look for glass beads and fake blood for model photoshoot
hand with eye on it and I see you written big brother pos
