Exercise - Juxtaposition

For this eercise I have used the object of the Ouija Board with a young woman using it.

Using the focal length and speed of the shot I worked towards getting a symbolic picture.

Exercise - Symbols

For this exercise we had to find symbols for a number of concepts. The concepts are as follows -

Growth - The first symbol I would use for this is a sprout of a daffodil. This would be shown in a picture by taking a very low angle lookng up at the sprout .
The second symbol would be that of a child of school. The picture would show a child working hard at a desk in school, his mind growing with knowledge.
Excess - The first symbol I would use would be of a large man eatng a very large meal at a resteraunt. The picture would be of the waiter bringing this large meal to the table with the large man looking at it expectantly.
The second symbol woud be of a man getting out of a very expensive car wearing a gold watch, expensive suit walkng into his mansion. The picture would show the man walking to the mansion as discussed above.
Crime - The first symbol would be of rioters looting a store. The picture would encompass the facial expressions as well as the physical actions of the looter.
The second symbol would be a person in prison clothing. The picture woud show the inmate behind bars with hands in his head.
Silence - My first symbol of silence would be monks praying at an altar. The picture would show the same.
The second symbol be someone with lips sowed up. the picture would show the same and I may try this one in the near furture using photoshop.
Poverty - My first symbol of poverty would be a beggar on the street. The picture would show him/her pleading to passers by for money
The second symbol would be of an empty wallet with a bank statement. The picture would encompass the negative balance on the statement and the empty wallet.

Exercise - Evidence of Action

For this exercise we have to show something that has happened. This should include something that is either broken or emptied.

Below is my photo for this exercise

This photo shows Sally who has been put in a mental asylum and her mind is broken.

Exercise: A narrative picture essay

For this exercise I have used the pictures I took from wedding that I was the main photographer for. I will be using a contact sheet to show the pictures but have put short captions on each one to describe what it shows. It was a little unorthodox as the bride and groom got ready in the same house together and travelled in the limo down to the Shepherd Neame Brewery.
After months of planning, actually two years of planning, the day came together beautifully. I did a recce of the place a few weeks before the ceremony to scout for locations for shooting. This more than paid to do due to the fluidity of the day. When I was doing the recce i took numerous photos of the place so I could work out what backdrops would work well for the group shots.

Putting on the war paint

All done and ready to go

A rather happy groom all spruced up and ready to join his future wife

Entering the car (hummer limousine) on the way to the brewery

Heres to us,on the way to the brewery

Entering the brewery and onto the brew house

Thankfully they both said yes and are pictured here  looking rather happy

Signing the register, making it official

Its a very long day for the bride and all she wanted to do was have a cup of tea

The first of many group photos

The speech, very well done considering how nervous he was

The cake toppers, very good likeness I think

Cutting the cake, or perhaps not, does this bode well for their life together

Now he is married, he starting off how he means to go on

The first and also final dance, dont they look happy

Exercise - Contrast and Shadow Fill

Exercise - The Lighting Angle

Lighting the egg from many different angles my favourite one has to be the sixth one as there is an even light across the whole egg allowing all the details to be exposed correctly.
