Exercise: Implied Lines

This exercise is on implied lines. The first one was a sun ray pointing at my daughter and mum while they were walking down some steps. The second one was where one of the models is looking at the other and she is looking outside of the picture.

Exercise: Curves

All the above are for the curves exercise. It was suprising to see how many curves there are in normal photos.

Exercise: Diagonals

Above are my images of diagonals, I didn't realise how many diagonals are in everyday pictures. Going through some of my old pictures as well there were so many with diagonals in.

Exercise: Horizontal and Vertical

This exercise was an interesting one to do and made me look at the different types of angles that we see in everyday objects.

Exercise - Multiple Points

For this exercise I initially toyed with the idea of using a bookcase and doing heaven and hell, but looking at the text again, it stated I should be above the image and the objects should be compact. Using my partners jewelery I placed each individual piece to fitted into a comical form of a smiley face. I have also posted the heaven and hell picture purely because I like the simplicity and the strong message within the photo.

new direction

I have been thinking a lot recently in the type of photography I do. I think this has been prompted by my sister who has done a lot of thought provoking self portraits but iny opinion is to photoshopped. I want to try a more natural photography an thinking of shooting exclusively in black and white for a month. I also want show a message in ech picture so the picture has to be read. for the next assignment we have to do multiple objects in a still life. Alison mentioned books on. book shelf and this has now grown to include he concept of heaven and hell win the books and ornaments placed. I will try it to tonight an see how it goes. I hav also started Reading train yor gaze by Roswell angier which is fascinating. I also have a model shoot this sat wih a 40 yr old model. there will be a lot of implied an actual nude but with messages fo each picture. hopefully we can Lao shop in her house where she has antique furniture which will make good photos. I have decided not to do friends photos as they are so unreliable and will look to paying for professional models when I need them. I am also looking at asking my dad if u an use his film cameras so I can see the difference and get nvm to basics. the assigets in the book are unusual the first being a portrait and you have to be in absolute silence for one hour and take 36 pics. the second one is to do a self portrait but wihout showing my face, wearing the masks spring to mind

Exercise - The Relationship between Points

3.

2.

1

The above pictures all show two points within the frame of the picture. I think number 1 shows two equally strong points that give a feeling of distance between the two. With number 2 I have purposefully unfocused the car on the left to highlight the car on the right and it draws your attention to the red car. On the third picture you are initially drawn to the bird and then to my daughter so the bird has the strongest emphasis.
